Mystery Object # 3

So what is this?

Well on a rainy day when sad golfers can't go out and we are stuck inside feeling a little peeved with the weather................ what do you do?

You can just go out in it and get drenched if you are mad enough, as my three brothers and I did at Waipu.

Waiting for a Break in the Rain.
Or you can be a little more prudent and stay in the warmth and brush up on your skills.
Time for a little 'bored' game oops I mean Board Game.

It is time for a little Mulligan!
Yes on a rainy day you can stay inside and play the trivial pursuit for golfers.
My friend Carla found this Game in the Waikouaiti Junk Shop.
A beautifully crafted Norwegian "Mind Game to challenge your Golf Skills" with questions relating to the History;Etiquette;Techniques and of course Rules(by far the largest portion of the question cards) of Golf.
For awhile there my friend Denise and I used Mulligan as a weather charm as it seemed every time  we decided to play the game because the weather was inclement, no sooner had we got the Board out  than the rain would stop and the sun would make an appearance and we would have to pack up the game and grab the clubs and head out for a the real McCoy.

Incidentally, for those of you who don't know a  Mulligan is indeed a golfing term. More likely to be heard  during a friendly round at a municipal golf club than on the PGA Tour needless to say .
According to "The Official Exceptions to the Rules of Golf" by Henry Beard ( another golfing  treasure I found in a second-hand bookshop in Dunedin) a Mulligan is Official Exception No 1 and is also known as a Revisional Ball.

Basically it allows you,if agreed upon with other players, to replay one and only one flawed drive(i.e a crap shot off the tee) without incurring a penalty. You may only have one Mulligan in a round of golf.

This is not an exception that we play at our friendly matches at Avondale just to clarify that!

Mulligan
The game, however did make a guest appearance at our club day last Thursday.
Quite a few of us turned up hoping that perhaps the rain would miraculously not be falling over the actual golf course, although it was steadily falling as most of us got into our cars to drive to Avondale.
At the last minute I grabbed Mulligan , thinking it might  provide some mild entertainment for the 'ladies'.

And so it did!

We currently have some new ladies learning how to play golf so they were having their lesson down one end of the clubroom and those of us attempting a round of Mulligan were trying ever so quietly to play down the other end.

Let me tell you it is nigh on impossible for a group of ladies to laugh quietly.
And some voices do carry!
Just as well it was coffee and tea being drunk and nothing stronger.
Much hilarity ensued and possibly a few golf rules were learned too, though  possibly not remembered.

Thanks for the laughs 'gals' lets do it again some rainy day.

Now listen carefully to the question.

And now here is a question for you all. Google it if you must but try and think it through first:

We may find the figures 382 or 384 or a similiar number on a golf ball.
What do these figures mean?

Stay tuned for more as I bring you up to date on the last few courses I have played.
